From vision to vertical — progress is surging at Beltway Towne Centre, located at 5401 Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg, and the transformation is impossible to miss.
Positioned at the gateway of the PA-581 and Route 15 interchange, this landmark development is redefining the commercial heart of Cumberland County’s West Shore. Foundation have been placed, steel is up, facades are forming, and the tenant list is already packed with big names:
BJ’s Wholesale Club, Shake Shack, CAVA, First Watch, Taco Bell, and Starbucks — all part of a curated mix designed to attract regional traffic and elevate the retail experience along this booming stretch.
At the core of this development — both structurally and strategically — is the engineering work of KSG Engineers. We’re proud to have provided structural engineering for every building on site, as well as the site retaining walls systems that make this multi-pad site feasible and efficient.
With buildings going vertical and infrastructure racing toward completion, Beltway Towne Centre is on track to become one of the most significant retail openings in the region.
📸 Check out the progress in the photos below— and stay tuned as this project continues to take shape.
Once a vibrant hub of Scranton nightlife, 519 Linden Street has seen numerous transformations since it’s construction in 1909. From its early days as a car showroom to later incarnations as Tink’s Night Club, Levels, and The Hardware Bar, the building has long been a staple in NEPA’s cultural scene.
In 2022, JBAS Realty, led by John Basalyga, embarked on an ambitious mission to breathe new life into this iconic downtown property. Their vision? To create A’tera 519, a high-end restaurant experience, and Sergei’s Live, an underground entertainment venue. It would become one of the most exciting and transformative commercial projects in downtown Scranton—and one of its most structurally complex.
That’s when KSG Engineers was brought in to help reinforce the vision.
Our team began by addressing serious structural challenges that had developed over decades of heavy use and deferred maintenance. These included a failing sidewalk vault, a deteriorating basement floor system, and significant issues with the building’s foundation and façade. Through careful engineering design and coordination, we helped stabilize, strengthen, and modernize the core of the structure while preserving its character.
Much of the reconstruction work was unanticipated—revealed only once demolition began. And it all had to move forward under tough site conditions and in the middle of a Scranton winter. But the JBAS construction team pushed through, demonstrating true commitment to both craftsmanship and community impact.
Today, A’tera 519 stands as a testament to Scranton’s resilience and commitment to preserving its rich history while embracing modernity. The establishment offers a New York City vibe with a sprawling central bar, year-round glass-wrapped “al fresco” dining, and mezzanine-level seating . Below, Sergei’s Live provides an intimate setting for live music and events, further cementing 519 Linden Street’s place in the heart of Scranton’s cultural landscape.
This is what it looks like when a bold vision meets the right team—and the right engineering.
We’re proud to have helped reinforce the vision for 519 Linden Street—and even prouder to continue doing so for one our region’s most meaningful projects.
We’re excited to welcome Kevin Regep, our Structural Engineering intern, to KSG Engineers for the summer!
Kevin is currently studying at Penn State University in the Architectural Engineering program and we’re looking forward to supporting Kevin’s professional development during his internship and beyond.
Kevin hit the ground running this week, joining Principal Anthony Shulde, P.E. on a site inspection for one of our latest projects under construction in Yonkers, NY.
We’re thrilled to share that the La Mora Senior Living project has been awarded the 2024 National Association of Home Builders – Multifamily Offsite Construction GOLD Award!
Located in Yonkers, NY, La Mora Senior Living is a beautifully designed five-story, 55,290 SF modular apartment building delivering 60 affordable units — 57 one-bedrooms and 3 two-bedrooms — for seniors aged 62 and older.
Built using 92 modular units and completed in July 2024, La Mora sets a new standard for urban senior housing, combining innovative offsite modular construction with traditional site-built elements — a true blend of speed, quality, and sustainability.
KSG Engineer proudly served as the Structural Engineer for the foundation, supporting steel structure podium, and the wood framed modular portions of the building.
The project is also PHIUS Core 2021 certified, offering 40–60% energy savings over traditional buildings through: – Superior insulation (R-31 walls, R-74 roofs) – Triple-pane windows (U-value 0.16) – VRF HVAC systems – LED lighting, low-flow plumbing, and ENERGY STAR appliances – Airtight envelope tested at an impressive 0.062 cfm50/sf
