Keystone Structural Group Announces New Hire

Tina Marie Merli, PE , joined Keystone Structural Group in March of 2020.  Tina Marie joins the firm as a Senior Structural Engineer and has practiced structural engineering academically and in design practice for over 20 years.  Throughout her career she has been employed by several reputable engineering firms and has practiced within her own privately held company designing commercial, educational, healthcare and industrial structures.

In addition to design career, she was a senior instructor in the Building Engineering Technology/Architectural EngineeringTechnology Program (BLET/AET) at the Scranton campus of Penn State University.  

Park and Main: New Hartford, CT

The City of Hartford, CT recently approved a proposed mixed-use development to be located at the corner of Park and Main Streets, near downtown Hartford.

The $26 million dollar apartment and retail development will include 108 apartments spread between two buildings on corners lots. The buildings will include storefront space, affordable apartments and rooftop amenities.

The buildings will total over 90,000 square feet of residential space and 20,000 square feet of commercial space. Keystone Structural Group will be providing full structural engineering services to design the buildings foundation systems, transfer podium structures and wood framed apartments. Construction is anticipated to start in 2020.

The Saw Pit is Taking Shape

Our Saw Pit Apartments project, located in Port Chester, NY, is taking shape. When complete the Saw Pit will be a four story building with 38 senior housing apartments and will feature a fitness center, community room, patio, and exterior deck.

Keystone Structural Group provided structural engineering services for the project. The structure consists of wood-framed modular box construction designed to withstand code required forces and transit forces as the modular boxes travel between their manufacturing site in Pennsylvania and New York.

Eco House is nominated for Building of the Year!

Our Eco House project, located off the coast of the Peconic River, between the North and South forks in Long Island, New York has been nominated by american-architect.com magazine for 2019 Building of the Year. The magazine has highlighted and nominated 43 buildings across the United States and has launched public voting for the award.

Keystone Structural Group provided structural engineering services for this project that has been recognized in 2019 by four architectural magazines and online publications, including an article, penned by Keystone Structural Group, highlighted in Concrete Engineering International.

Work Continues in New Rochelle, NY on The Craft Building

The Craft Building, which will be located at 164 Union Ave. in New Rochelle, NY, is reaching the final stages of construction. Major structural work on the steel framed parking structure podium and wood framed apartments is complete. Facade, interior finishes and furnishings will continue through the winter, ending with a spring-time completion.

Construction is complete on D&C Fuels

D&C Fuels has completed construction of their new 6,000 sq. ft. sales office and fuel retail center. Located on busy Route 6, in Tunkhannock, PA, this facilities structural system was built with superior precast basement walls, structural steel and wood framing.

Keystone Structural Group was the engineer of record for this project and assisted Milnes Engineering’s construction managers during the build.

The Grand: New Rochelle, NY

We are pleased to announce that Keystone Structural Group has been awarded an engineering design service contract for “The Grand” apartment building, which will be located in New Rochelle, NY.  

The Grand, when complete, represent the final “piece” of redevelopment for the Burling Triangle area of New Rochelle. The final piece will cap off a successful revitalization effort by the developer too create a brand new neighborhood that includes two other upscale apartment buildings and plush hotel-like amenities.

Work continues on Mission BBQ: Wilkes-Barre Twp., PA

The foundations are finished and a majority of the building superstructure and exterior wall construction is complete on our Mission BBQ project, located in Wilkes-Barre Twp., PA.
 

As winter is approaching the work moves indoors for interior fit out and furnishing.This building is located in the Arena Hub area of Wilkes-Barre Twp., PA, which was heavily damaged by a tornado in 2018.   After the tornado, Keystone Structural Group was involved with ensuring most buildings in the area were sound and for repairing many of the damaged structures.  Read more about our efforts to help rebuild the Arena Hub here.

This new project is considered Phase 1 of new building work for the hub and is expected to be open in early 2020.  There’s much more to come as the busy commerce hub rebuilds.

U.S. Building of the Week

Our Eco House project has been featured in World-Architects online publication as “U.S. Building of the Week”.  Our engineers worked closely with New York based architect, Vibeke Lichten, with designing the structure for this one-of-a-kind green home, located on Shelter Island in New York State.
